Preservation
Preservation of the many historic sites:
- Ft. Wilkinson and Post Revolutionary War and Civil War Sites
- McMillan Brick Manufacturing Co., the remaining kilns, R/R used to transport bricks
- Native American Fish Traps in the river
- The Bridge that Sherman burned during his March to the Sea
- The Oconee River Greenway Authority will work with any county along the Oconee River that joins the Authority to endeavor to preserve, protect and promote historic sites within the county when appropriate
Conservation

- Most park sites, developed by ORGA along the Oconee River, will promote historic sites within the county where the park resides. Methods might include the use of signs, kiosks, brochures etc.

Increased tourism and tourism dollars, enhanced business opportunities such as rental industry for
skates, bicycles, rafts, kayaks; canoe lessons, history tours; restaurants (potential of all
types…upscale, short order, specialty etc.); bed & breakfast inns or motels; souvenir gift shops;
fine art; grocery stores and supermarkets, increased opportunities for residential and commercial
developments plus much more….
